Where Does Chicken Tikka Masala Actually Come From?

Face it: there’s one thing we all get when we go to an Indian-Pakistani restaurant: chicken tikka masala. But what if we told you that the popular, creamy dish might not actually be from the Sub-Continent? Instead, the dish has a complicated origin story that, in part, tells the story of the Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi immigrants who built the United Kingdom’s famous curry houses that today are on the brink of disappearing.
